What is Kerodex® Barrier Cream ?

A topical formulation applied to the surface of the skin as a physical barrier to irritants therefore preventing and providing protection from occupational skin disorders (OSDs), contact dermatitis and/or work-related eczema (WRE). It forms a protective film on the skin and shields against irritation, efficiently & conveniently. It is said to act like an invisible glove to guard the hands and skin.

KERODEX HISTORY

Invented at the beginning of 20th century in England as a skin barrier cream for Industries. After World War II women began working in industries in Britain as there were few men. Exposure to harsh chemicals caused damage to the skin, caused social issues and made work difficult. Also once the skin becomes rough, it takes a lot of time to heal completely no matter how much care is taken.  Dr. K B Alberman developed a special barrier cream on the basis of Skin Science called  , “Kerodex”. It protects the skin by application before work. Since then, for more than 75 years Kerodex has been protecting skin and hands of people across multiple industries.

NEED FOR BARRIER CREAMS

Skin is the largest organ of the human body. Contact dermatitis is one of the most common chemically induced occupational illness. Workers who are in constant contact with one or more harmful substances (see ISI chart) need to be protected. Once damaged, skin becomes vulnerable and carries germs even after washing. In addition washing with regular soap does not help remove many synthetic chemicals and so it is ineffective. Strong soaps and detergents can also cause skin disorders.

When our skin is exposed to harsh chemicals it leads to chemical burns, fissured eczema, oil acne, acid burns, eczematous eruptions, inflammation, lesions, sores, burns &  boils that are not only ugly but also painful. Deteriorating condition of hands, skin getting hard, cracked and dry abrasions caused by constant friction.

Skin Irritation can be Caused by:

Alkalies, Solid waste, Bio medical waste, Laundry dirt, Grease, Degreasing agents  ,Mineral oil, Diesel, Kerosene, Air turbine fuel, Cutting oil, Dyeing and bleaching solutions, Trichloroethylene, Solvents, Thinner, Coolants.
